Job DescriptionSummary:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Technicians install, overhaul, dismantle, construct, inspect, replace, test and make mechanical and electrical repairs to buildings and mechanical equipment such as boilers, compressors, sprinklers, piping, plumbing, production and material handling equipment, line equipment and controls.
Essential Job Functions:
Troubleshoot using working knowledge of programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumaticsPerforms plumbing and pipefitting duties as required on plant piping, such as steam, water, air, gas, and chemical linesOperates and repairs electrically and mechanically, all boilers, compressors, sprinklers, cooling towers and pumps as neededRead and interpret machine electrical and mechanical drawingsReads and interprets blue prints and schematic diagramsInstallation, modification and fabrication of equipment and systems to meet production needs and schedulesWelds and fabricates as necessary for repair or projectsMaintains interior and exterior of buildings including windows, drain spouts, roofs, floors, ceiling, etc.

Inputs and retrieves information from the Maintenance Management/MVP SystemParticipate in continuous improvement in safety, quality and housekeeping.

Performs preventative maintenance as directedPerforms various inspections on safety equipmentRequisitions material, parts and toolsCommunicates clearly from one shift to another and to the Production Foreman and Maintenance ManagerCoordinates the scheduling of repairs with department managers.

Maintains clean and organized work area according to 6S standards

Actively participates in adhering to plant housekeeping requirements by picking up trash, sweeping work areas, and returning materials and equipment to their proper locationsUse computer to enter and retrieve informationMaintains regular and on time attendanceAdheres to all safety and work rulesAdheres to job specific SOPsAssists and trains new employeesReads and comprehends instructions regarding new equipment, equipment changes and/or procedural changesPerforms miscellaneous assignments as directed

Hand, eye and feet coordination to operate fork trucksHand and eye coordination to operate welding equipment, lathes, drills, saws and other equipmentSquat, kneel or stoop frequently to perform job dutiesReach or extend forward for long periods of time to perform job dutiesAbility to read and comprehend written materials such as blue prints, SOPs, work rules, etc.

QualificationsJob Requirements:
Four or more years of experience repairing and troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, to include the following over-head cranes, forklifts, hoists, 3 phase motors, variable speed drives and controls, and heavy industrial wiring and/or an equivalent combination of technical education and experienceAbility to read and comprehend work orders, equipment manuals, blue prints, and electrical schematics.

High school diploma or GEDAbility to read and write clearly, and communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and supervisors.

Understanding and demonstrated ability to apply troubleshooting techniquesDoes require training checklist and demonstration of skillsAvailable to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts, that could include weekends and holidays6 to 12 months previous experience on a coating line is preferredAdditional InformationWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Precoat Metals is a Drug Free Workplace
