We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join a property maintenance team supporting residential housing communities in the South Bend area. This position is responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance, unit turnovers, repairs, preventive maintenance, and general rehabilitation work to ensure safe, high-quality housing for residents. Responsibilities Complete emergency maintenance work orders within 24 hours and routine work orders within established service timelines. Perform unit turnovers, rehabilitation projects, and modernization work to prepare units for occupancy. Conduct drywall repair, wall preparation, patching, texturing, and painting. Perform carpentry repairs and installations, including: Cabinets and countertops Interior and exterior doors Windows and screens Stairs, handrails, trim, gutters, and siding Install and repair flooring materials, including underlayment and tile. Replace suspended ceiling tiles and framework. Install blinds, window treatments, curtain rods, locks, and related hardware. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems, including: Faucets Sinks Toilets Bathtubs Water heaters Drain and pipe repairs Perform electrical maintenance and repairs, including outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, breakers, and related components. Conduct preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of HVAC systems, including filter changes, cleaning, thermostat maintenance, and component replacement. Inspect equipment and building systems to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns. Remove debris and maintain clean, organized work areas. Assist with snow removal and lawn care as needed. Complete work orders, time sheets, and maintenance documentation accurately and on time. Support special projects and other maintenance-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in residential, commercial, apartment, or facilities maintenance required. Strong knowledge of general building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and HVAC systems. Ability to read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and maintenance instructions. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Excellent customer service and communication skills when interacting with residents and staff. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
