Job Description
Bliss Microcreamery is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Industrial Maintenance Technician to support production operations. This role is ideal for a well-rounded technician with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience who thrives in a fast-paced, food production environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining uptime, ensuring equipment reliability, and supporting Microcreamery operations. The primary focus of this role is the plant, which requires a dedicated full-time technician due to the volume and complexity of daily maintenance needs. Key Responsibilities Production & Equipment Maintenance (Microcreamery) Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on production and packaging equipment Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Work with motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, and basic PLC diagnostics Maintain ice cream manufacturing equipment and support production uptime Assist with ammonia refrigeration systems, compressors, and temperature controls Support installation and upgrades of equipment Fabrication & General Repair Perform welding (TIG/MIG preferred), fabrication, and custom repairs Use hand tools, power tools, pipe threading equipment, and shop machinery Modify or build components to improve equipment performance and reliability Operations Support Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively during production Maintain a strong presence on the production floor ( approximately 90% of the day ) Assist with maintenance scheduling adjustments based on production needs Maintain accurate records using CMMS or similar systems Safety & Compliance Follow all OSHA, safety, and food safety standards Support inspections, audits, and compliance requirements Ensure safe operation of all equipment and systems Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency Support projects that reduce downtime and improve production output Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Technical school certification required (Industrial Maintenance, HVAC/Refrigeration, Electrical Technology, or Mechanical Systems) 3-5 years of industrial or facilities maintenance experience Preferred Experience Food manufacturing or production environment Mechanical systems, fabrication, pneumatics, and hydraulics Electrical systems (motors, VFDs, sensors) Basic PLC troubleshooting CMMS systems Licensing & Certifications Refrigeration or Electrical Licensed Technician preferred Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License preferred EPA Section 608 Certification required or obtained within 6 months Additional certifications are valued and may impact compensation Work Environment & Physical Requirements Frequent lifting (up to 40-50 lbs.), bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing Work in cold and freezer environments, around moving equipment Exposure to wet, noisy, and fast-paced production conditions Safety shoes required On-call availability, overtime, and occasional weekends required Additional Information This role primarily supports Microcreamery production operations , with limited secondary support to restaurant facilities The plant requires a full-time dedicated technician due to a large and active daily maintenance workload Hands-on, physically active position requiring flexibility and strong work ethic Performs all other duties as assigned Compensation $31.25-$37.02/hr. ($65K-$77K annually) based on experience, licenses, and certifications, with overtime and on-call opportunities Higher compensation may be considered for candidates with: Active Refrigeration License Strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting experience Advanced technical certifications
