Overview State Garden is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance department! Located in Chelsea, MA, State Garden has been in the produce business for over 75 years and we are proud of the high quality products we sell. What started out as a family-run celery business has transformed into the company we are today - a top supplier of organic and conventional tender leaf greens, spinach and celery hearts. The Maintenance Technician IV is a highly experienced maintenance technician who possesses a diverse background of electromechanical / mechanical experiences. This position is responsible for installs, maintenance and repairs of machinery, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems in an industrial environment. Shift Monday-Saturday 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Responsibilities Performs routine preventive maintenance by inspecting and testing machinery equipment in the production facility; Oils and lubricants moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance. Detects equipment and machinery malfunctions and discusses machine operation with supervisors, managers, or others maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines. Trains lower-level technicians on inspections, assembly, disassembly, installation, repairs, programming, and preventive maintenance tasks. Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts; installs new equipment or repairs parts. Assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Repairs and maintains physical structure of facilities. Reads, interprets, and follows instructions in operator and maintenance manuals. Ability to safely operate hand and power tools as well as cleaning equipment. Utilizes CMMS system for filing work order requests and work order completions; Records and reports worn and damaged parts and equipment. Follows appropriate process for obtaining parts with focus on maintaining proper inventory. Complies with all food and human safety and health regulations. Responds to emergency calls for maintenance and repairs. Works with and maintains relationships with contracted vendors. Cleans, organizes, and maintains shop work areas; Inspects and cleans each area they perform repairs in the facilities. Ensures that all maintenance equipment is in good working order. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics to identify parts, part numbers, and necessary parts in preparation of repairs, rebuilds, and preventive maintenance. Utilizes multimeter to check continuity and troubleshooting. Programs various machinery controls, PLCs, VFDs (Variable frequency drives), etc. May fill-in and cover Supervisor duties in Supervisors' absence. May assist fabrication team with designing and projects as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a team. Ability to quickly implement strategic solutions to mechanical issues within the plant. May be required to work outside normal work hours. Knowledge of human and food safety. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent time management. Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office products (i.e. Outlook). Powered Industrial Truck certification. Ability to operate a company vehicle with valid driver's license.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Minimum of 3 years of related experience. Prior experience with Powered Industrial Trucks preferred.
