Job Description

Maintenance Mechanic, TIER 1: This position involves the performance of semi-skilled and skilled, diversified duties in connection with repairs and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
Responsibilities:
Performs a wide range of buildings, grounds and facilities repair and maintenance functions, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical work. Knowledge of and manual skills in repairing such items as: stoves and refrigerators, windows, doors, mechanical equipment, snow plowing and removal, and in other maintenance duties. Should have a broad range of experience in several of the above noted areas at a skill level normally required of a journeyman or higher. When on 24 hr. call must always be within a 30-minute drive of the GHA developments.
Qualifications:
Candidates must obtain a passing grade on a GHA Maintenance exam. Must be capable of providing on-call emergency coverage approximately every 7 weeks on a rotation basis. Must be in good physical health, possess a valid MA Driver's License, have reliable transportation and be able to lift 70 lb. objects. Trade licenses/certifications are highly desirable. Bi-lingual a plus. Full benefits (health insurance, dental, City retirement program). 40hrs/wk. AFSCME (union), $38.39/per hour plus an on-call stipend.
