JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title:
Facilities Maintenance Engineer (Journeyman Plumber)Hours:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday- Friday; some on-call may be required at times.
Location:
Shrewsbury, MA (Base of Operations), with travel to portfolio sites (Worcester, Walpole, RI, NH)Supervisor:
Property Manager•Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Facilities Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in plumbing to join our real estate investment and management team. While based out of Audubon Shrewsbury, this individual will act as a mobile resource serving our entire regional property portfolio. The primary focus of this role is the proactive maintenance, repair, and replacement of residential and commercial hot water systems. Additionally, the Engineer will serve as the lead for all plumbing-related needs, from routine fixture repairs to emergency system troubleshooting across our diverse properties.Key Responsibilities:
Water Heater Management:
Serve as the subject matter expert for the portfolio's water heating systems. This includes routine inspections, flushing tanks, replacing heating elements/anode rods, and performing full unit replacements (gas and electric) as needed.System Maintenance:
Diagnose and repair issues within supply lines, drainage systems, and venting.Fixture Service:
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers, and faucets across various property types.Emergency Response:
Provide prompt technical support for plumbing emergencies, such as burst pipes, major leaks, or total loss of hot water.Portfolio Support:
Travel between property locations to execute scheduled work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.ReportingInventory:
Maintain accurate records of repairs, assist in managing plumbing parts inventory, and report directly to the Property Manager at Audubon Shrewsbury regarding project status and material needs.Compliance:
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local building codes and safety regulations. Additional duties as assigned by the Property Manager.Required QualificationsSkills:
Experience:
Minimum of 5-10 years of professional plumbing experience, specifically in multifamily or commercial property maintenance.- Current Journeyman or Master Plumber license required
Technical Proficiency:
Advanced knowledge of gas hot water heater installation and repair (tank-style and tankless).Troubleshooting:
Strong ability to diagnose complex plumbing issues quickly and implement cost-effective solutions.Communication:
Ability to interact professionally with residents, property staff, and external vendors.Mobility:
Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to various property sites within the portfolio.Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work in confined or elevated spaces. Manual dexterity for operating tools and machinery.- Why Join Us?
