Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive professional to support daily operations, preventive maintenance, and responsive repairs across a highly regulated facility environment. This role plays an important part in keeping building systems reliable, safe, and compliant while supporting work that directly impacts research operations and site performance.
Responsibilities:
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on vivarium equipment, HVAC components, air handling units, lighting systems, water supply systems, alarms, monitoring devices, and specialized mechanical systems. Respond to daily maintenance requests and site work orders involving plumbing, electrical, lighting, and general repairs to minimize disruption to operations. Conduct regular building walkthroughs and inspections, including safety checks, compliance reviews, and IACUC inspections, while maintaining cleanliness and operational readiness. Carry out welding tasks for metal repair, fabrication, equipment reinforcement, and structural support, along with general facility upkeep such as carpentry, drywall repair, tiling, cabinetry work, and light remodeling.
Required:
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Demonstrated experience performing MIG/TIG/arc welding and safely operating welding machines and related tools. Proven ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair welding equipment and select appropriate materials for each job. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to identify cost-effective, durable maintenance solutions. Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, work at heights, and stand for extended periods. Clear, professional communication skills and background in commercial facility maintenance or construction trades, with willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
