Jobs › Springfield, MA › General Technician Insight Global General Technician Springfield, MA Apply Job Description Position Overview Our large facilities management client is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to support facilities operations at a college campus. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of campus buildings and grounds to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Hours are 6:00am-2:30p or 6:30-3:00pm M-F with being on call on weekends every 18 weeks. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills, a customer-service mindset, and experience maintaining commercial, institutional, or educational facilities. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repair work on campus buildings and facilities. Conduct preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment. Respond to work orders related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, doors, windows, and fixtures. Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical and building-related issues. Assist with moving furniture, office setups, event preparations, and campus projects. Complete inspections and document maintenance activities using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work order systems. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner. Support emergency response efforts and assist with after-hours maintenance activities when needed. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, campus policies, and Aramark standards. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. 2+ years of maintenance experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, or industrial facilities. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance. Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Preferred Experience working on a college or university campus. Trade certifications or vocational training. Experience using CMMS or facility management software. Skills and Requirements High school diploma or GED. 2+ years of maintenance experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, or industrial facilities. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance. Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Experience working on a college or university campus. Certified Pool Operator License (CPO) Trade certifications or vocational training. Experience using CMMS or facility management software.
