QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.
One or more years of building maintenance, custodial, facilities, or general trades experience preferred. Experience in a school or other occupied public building is a plus.
Working knowledge of hand and power tools, cleaning chemicals and their safe use, and basic repair techniques across carpentry, plumbing, painting, and light electrical work.
Ability to plan and prioritize work, take direction, work independently between check-ins, and complete multiple tasks on schedule.
Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, families, and vendors.
Availability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends for snow removal, emergency repairs, and school events.
Valid driver's license preferred for travel between campus buildings and supply runs.
Must pass CORI, SORI, and fingerprint background checks as required by Massachusetts law for school employees.
ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintenance and repairsComplete routine and requested repairs across all campus buildings, including furniture, doors, hardware, ceiling tiles, fixtures, painting, patching, and minor plumbing and electrical work.
Respond to work orders from the Facilities Manager and school staff, and communicate status and completion.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and record it as directed.
Escalate issues beyond the scope of the role anything requiring a licensed trade, a permit, or a vendor to the Facilities Manager promptly.
Daily operations and cleaning supportSupport daily cleaning operations, including mopping, trash removal, restocking restrooms and staff areas, and cleaning classrooms, lounges, and the breakfast and lunch area.
Complete special projects such as washing walls and glass, carpet cleaning, and stripping and refinishing floors.
Set up, break down, and reconfigure classrooms and shared spaces for instruction, testing, meetings, Crew, and school events.
Receive, unload, and distribute deliveries, equipment, and supplies across buildings.
Grounds and seasonal workPerform snow and ice removal at entrances, walkways, and lots, including early-morning and weekend coverage during winter weather.
Complete light landscaping and grounds work, including sweeping walks, outside trash removal, and seasonal cleanup.
SafetyFollow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment as required.
Report safety hazards, damage, and security concerns to the Facilities Manager immediately.
Support fire drills, safety inspections, and emergency preparedness activities as directed.
Maintain awareness that this work happens in an occupied school building, and sequence tasks to minimize disruption to instruction.

Lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Use hand and power tools, and safely handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with product instructions and safety data sheets.
