Job Description

Assists the Chief Engineer in the performance of duties necessary to maintain the physical structure of the hotel in good repair. Duties include carpentry, routine plumbing, minor electrical work, minor mechanical repairs, and other maintenance duties.
JOB DUTIES
 Knows and observes safety precautions  Knows and observes fire safety procedures and emergency action plans  Has knowledge and use of the fire control/alarm systems and extinguishers  Inspects and reports discrepancies in policy with regard to maintenance and safety  Troubleshoots/overhauls major equipment in the hotel  Changes worn or broken parts to solve equipment problems and trains maintenance workers to do the same  Assists Chief Engineer in the administration of an ongoing preventative maintenance program for equipment and guest rooms  Performs planned maintenance on equipment to prolong life and prevent failure  Responds to all guest and staff needs to include kitchen, restaurant and bar, laundry equipment, repairs, guest requests, TV problems, clogged toilets, and drains, etc  Performs minor electrical and mechanical repairs to fans, air conditioners, motors, and locks  Performs rough carpentry work, finishing, painting, and routine plumbing repairs  Records engineering log entries during assigned shift  Maintains department tools, workspaces, and equipment in the proper organization and working order  Performs special projects as requested to enhance hotel condition and or appearance  Additional duties may be added at any time at the discretion of management Consistently models the behavior of someone who:  Maintains a professional image, including grooming, verbiage, and body language, at all times.  Warmly greets both guests and coworkers (using the 10/5, first & last rule) every time they come in contact.  Actively listens to guests, responding appropriately to their questions and/or concerns. Seeks guidance and/or assistance from others to ensure satisfaction.  Fosters teamwork by offering assistance to others, as needed.  Continuously monitors the surroundings at work, in order to identify any cleanliness, safety, security, or building upkeep issues. Reports discrepancies to the proper department.  Contributes to a safe work environment by following proper safety guidelines in matters of attire, utilizing protective gear, and following safety procedures.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
 High school graduate or equivalent preferred.  Technical training in mechanical and electrical fields.
Experience:
 Minimum 1-year training in mechanical and electrical fields or equivalent experience  Minimum 2 years of experience in maintenance of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating systems.  Experience in carpentry and plumbing.

 Multi-tasking and prioritizing  Ability to professionally represent the hotel  Must be able to communicate effectively with hotel staff and guests  Ability to remain calm during stressful situations

Pay:
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour
