Project Scope:
  • Support two Electro-Mechanical Technician openings in Belcamp, MD focused on industrial maintenance, equipment uptime, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in a plant environment.
  • Roles are contract-to-hire around 6 months with potential FTE conversion, with one A-shift opening and one second-shift opening using the same job description and pay structure.
  • Customer is looking to move quickly, with candidates needing to be comfortable working at heights and operating around fork/scissor lifts.
Team Size & Breakdown:
  • Two total openings reporting into Anthony Baker Smith, MRU Manager / T&H&S Reliability Manager.
  • One technician will support A shift on a rotating 12-hour schedule, and one technician will support a later second-shift schedule.
  • Role appears to sit within the plant maintenance/reliability function, supporting production equipment, packaging equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors, instrumentation, controls, and mechanical systems.
High-Level Individual Duties:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial plant equipment including conveyors, pumps, motors, agitators, centrifuges, sifters, robotic arms, packaging equipment, and heating/cooling product systems.
  • Perform multi-craft maintenance across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems to reduce downtime and support safe plant operations.
  • preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, documentation, and work order activity, including potential use of SAP or another CMMS.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, ladder logic, VFDs, motors, wiring, control devices, safety relays, and voltage-related issues.
  • Perform calibration and repair work on instruments such as flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH, and density devices.
  • Support mechanical repair tasks such as alignment, balancing, rigging, fabrication, welding, and machine shop work as needed. Must-Haves (Concepts & Tools):
  • Hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, plant, chemical, food processing, pharmaceutical, utility, or similar production environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting foundation with working knowledge of conveyors, pumps, motors, agitators, and related rotating equipment.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience across motors, wiring, control devices, VFDs, safety relays, and voltage troubleshooting.
  • Comfort working at heights and around fork/scissor lifts.
  • A few years of relevant hands-on maintenance experience and ability to operate as a self-sufficient plant technician.
Nice-to-Haves:
  • PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic knowledge; ability to interpret controls issues rather than only perform basic mechanical repair.
  • Instrumentation calibration and repair exposure across common plant devices such as flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH, or density instruments.
  • Centrifuge or broader rotational equipment knowledge.
  • Welding, fabrication, alignment, balancing, rigging, lathe, or milling machine experience.
