Job Description

MT Maintenance Mechanic The Physical Plant Department invites applications for a full-time, nonexempt position. Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled tasks in building construction and maintenance requiring the application of general knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques, materials, tools, and equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts scheduled and unscheduled inspections of buildings and equipment.
  • Performs required preventive maintenance and repair activities.
  • Performs routine and emergency repairs including correcting minor electricalmalfunctions, repairing basic plumbing fixtures, pipes and fittings, repairing andreplacing light fixtures, repairing doors and locks, changing filters, belts andhoses.
  • Assists in the preparation of various building components and systems fortrades units and/or contractors.
  • Disassembles and installs equipment and fixtures.
  • Assists journey level trades personnel in skilled maintenance and repair work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Three years related work experience.
  • Employees in this job class assigned to work with equipment containing CFC refrigerants must achieve and maintain valid certification in accordance with federal law.
  • Valid Driver's license.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to complete logs, work order forms and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment or machinery.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 35 feet.
  • Ability to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, supplies and/or exert force up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment, and work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces and adverse weather or temperature conditions.
Physical Demands:
  • May be required to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting.
  • May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • May be required to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
  • May be required to operate a variety of equipment to include office equipment.
Licenses/ Certifications:
Employees in this job class assigned to work with equipment containing CFC refrigerants must achieve and maintain valid certification in accordance with federal law. Minimum Qualifications Three years related work experience. Additional Job Details
