What You Will Do As a Maintenance Technician for Carroll County parks, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs of 27 community park sites. Reporting to the Park Maintenance Foreman, your daily tasks will include operating equipment, performing grounds and facility maintenance and providing janitorial services. The work you do will help ensure that our community parks continue to be aesthetically appealing, safe and accessible for all visitors. Essential Duties Operate and maintain a full range of construction and grounds equipment. Perform grounds maintenance tasks to include mowing and trimming grass, limbing and bucking trees, trail repairs and general landscaping. Complete skilled construction and renovation projects of park amenities and structures. Perform basic electrical and plumbing maintenance and repairs. Perform janitorial services to include restroom and facility cleaning as well as trash removal. Perform event set up and clean up. Staff special events within the parks as needed. Assist in performing invasive species control. Assist with snow removal and security operations. Gather proper materials and tools in preparation for jobs. Use resources effectively. Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment. Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback. Required Licenses and Certifications Department of Transportation (DOT) physical card Valid driver's license CPR, AED, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certification (or must obtain within 6 months of employment) Bucket Truck training (or must obtain within six months of employment) Preferred Licenses and Certifications Class A or Class B commercial driver's license Boater Safety certification Playground Safety Inspector Additional Information Requires criminal background check as condition of employment. Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements Flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. On-call for weather related emergencies and facility related issues.
Working Conditions Frequent physical activity:
lifting and carrying over 50lbs, climbing ladders and steps, standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, stooping, kneeling, and related activities. Frequent exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions. Occasional exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, chemicals, noise, and airborne particles. Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
