A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.
Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Machining, Utility & Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing operations in Canton, Michigan. In this hands-on role, you will perform a variety of machining, maintenance, utility, and production support functions to ensure equipment, tooling, machinery, and facility systems operate safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Key Responsibilities Operate manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, grinders, and related shop equipment. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and work instructions. Fabricate, modify, repair, and install machine components, fixtures, tooling, guards, and production support equipment. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, facility systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic components. Troubleshoot and repair machinery to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. Assist with equipment installations, machine moves, changeovers, and continuous improvement initiatives. Use precision measuring instruments to inspect parts and verify dimensions and tolerances. Maintain maintenance records, parts inventory, and work order documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Experience in industrial maintenance, machining, manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and common machine shop equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems; basic electrical troubleshooting experience preferred. Technical degree, vocational training, certification, or equivalent work experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Physical Requirements Regularly use manual dexterity to assemble, position, and manipulate parts accurately. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
