Maintenance Technician The Peoples Church East Lansing, MI Job Details Part-time | Full-time $16 - $18 an hour 2 days ago Benefits Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off On-the-job training Flexible schedule Retirement plan Qualifications High school diploma or GED Waste collection Stocking Full Job Description Position Summary The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring The Peoples Church is prepared, clean, and welcoming for worship services, preschool programs, events, and daily operations. This position is responsible for unlocking and securing the building, preparing spaces for use, and performing routine cleaning and light maintenance duties to maintain a safe, orderly, and hospitable environment. ________________________________________
Key Responsibilities Opening Duties:
Unlock and secure all necessary entrances and rooms each morning. Turn on lights, heating/air conditioning, and video displays as needed. Conduct a quick walk-through to ensure the building is ready for guests and staff. Set up tables, chairs, signage, and other equipment for scheduled activities.
General Maintenance & Support:
Report any facility issues or safety hazards to the Facility Director. Assist with event set-up, tear-down, and furniture arrangement. Perform light repairs when within capability (e.g., replacing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures). Ensure all supplies and cleaning products are stocked. Assist with all other tasks assigned by the Facility Director.
Custodial Duties:
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all assigned areas. Clean restrooms and restock supplies. Empty trash and recycling bins. Maintain cleanliness in common areas, meeting rooms, and worship spaces. Wipe down high-touch surfaces and sanitize areas as needed. Closing Duties (as applicable): Secure all doors and windows; turn off lights and equipment as directed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience is a plus. Ability to work early mornings and occasional evenings/weekends. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently. Work Schedule:
Typical start time: 6:30 AM Monday through Friday Weekly hours: 40 Hours/Week Schedule may vary based on church events, holidays, and special programs.
Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly rate: $16.00 - $18.00
Benefits:
