Position Overview The Shop Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping maintain a clean, safe, organized, and wellfunctioning manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, part-time position focused primarily on shop cleaning, waste removal, general facility maintenance, and light outdoor property upkeep. This individual will help keep the manufacturing shop clean and orderly while also handling routine maintenance and minor repairs throughout the shop and office areas. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, mechanically inclined, and comfortable identifying and taking care of day-to-day facility needs. Key Responsibilities Shop Cleaning & Upkeep Sweep and clean manufacturing shop floors and work areas. Use floor scrubbers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment as needed. Keep aisles, walkways, production areas, and common shop spaces clean and free of debris. Clean up dust, dirt, metal debris, packaging materials, and other waste generated through normal manufacturing operations. Help maintain an organized and professional shop environment. Perform periodic deeper cleaning of shop areas as needed. Shop Trash & Waste Removal Collect and remove trash from shop and production areas. Empty shop trash containers into designated dumpsters or compactors. Break down and dispose of cardboard, packaging materials, and other waste. Assist with sorting recyclable materials and scrap as appropriate. Keep dumpster and waste staging areas clean, organized, and free of overflow. Assist with proper disposal and handling of shop materials. General Facility Maintenance Perform routine light maintenance throughout the shop and office facility. Change light bulbs, filters, batteries, and other routine facility items. Perform minor repairs and basic handyman-type work. Complete minor touch-up painting and facility improvements as needed. Assist with basic maintenance of doors, fixtures, shelving, furniture, and other facility items. Identify facility issues or needed repairs and communicate larger concerns to management. Help organize shop storage areas, maintenance supplies, and facility equipment. Assist with moving furniture, equipment, materials, or supplies as needed. Monitor facility and maintenance supplies and notify management when items need to be reordered. Perform general supply runs or pick up materials as needed. Assist with other general facility and shop support duties as assigned. Outdoor & Seasonal Maintenance Maintain building entrances, sidewalks, and outdoor areas around the facility. Pick up litter and debris around the building, parking lot, and grounds. Perform light snow removal, including snow blowing or shoveling sidewalks and building entrances. Apply salt or ice melt to sidewalks and entrances as needed. Pull weeds and perform other light grounds maintenance as necessary. Keep exterior areas, dumpster locations, and entrances clean and presentable. Identify exterior maintenance concerns and report larger issues to management. Safety & Compliance Follow all AMS safety procedures and use appropriate PPE. Properly use and store cleaning products, chemicals, tools, and maintenance supplies. Identify and promptly address or report spills, hazards, damaged equipment, and facility concerns. Maintain safe and clear aisles, walkways, exits, and work areas. Follow company procedures for waste handling and disposal. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Willingness to perform both shop cleaning and general maintenance responsibilities. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs. Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing or walking for extended periods. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment. Willingness to work outdoors periodically throughout the year. Preferred Previous experience in facility maintenance, shop maintenance, industrial cleaning, building maintenance, or a similar role. Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial facility. General handyman or mechanical maintenance experience. Experience using floor scrubbers or other industrial cleaning equipment. Forklift, scissor lift, or pallet jack experience, or willingness to be trained and certified. Work Environment Manufacturing and industrial shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and varying temperatures. Regular physical activity throughout the workday. May require the use of ladders, cleaning equipment, hand tools, and basic power tools. Some responsibilities are performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
