About the unit A Float position gives you the opportunity to cross train to Med Surg, ICU, Emergency Departments, and OB. Float offers an opportunity to learn a broader skill set and enhance your skills by working in these departments. There also is a pay incentive for working Float. You can trust the quality of our care because we've earned national recognition from several organizations. Scope of work Patient care role within the emergency department of United Hospital. Nurse Techs work under the direction of an RN to care for our patients. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Nurse Tech responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed baths, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
