Classification Title:
Support Personnel Job Summary Under supervision, the General Maintenance position performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the following maintenance fields: HVAC, carpenter, electrician, equipment mechanic, and plumber-fitter. Must have acquired sufficient training and experience to complete repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and grounds equipment areas. Schoolcraft is a comprehensive, open-door, community-based college. The mission of the College is to provide a transformational learning experience designed to increase the capacity of individuals and groups to achieve intellectual, social, and economic goals. Required Qualifications High School diploma. Valid Michigan Driver's License and College approved driving record. Five (5) years experience/training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry trades; documentation provided by employee per Article XV, Section F. Must be willing to work overtime as needed. Ability to communicate and work well with others. Ability to supervise others. Proven record of dependability and reliability. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively and up to 100 lbs. occasionally and pass the Schoolcraft College pre-employment physical examination. Writing Skills:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Communication Skills:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee is frequently required to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally required to work in high, precarious places (frequent ladder/aerial lift use), around toxic or caustic chemicals, in outdoor weather conditions and with the risk of electrical shock.

Salary:
$29.88/hour ($32.38 after one year) Job Duty Name 1 Description of Job Duty Performs preventative maintenance (PM) to HVAC equipment i.e. filter changes, grease/lubricate, adjusts/replaces belts, replaces bearings, cleans fans and coils, etc. Essential Duty? Included, but not limited to repairs of light holders, lamps, ballasts, fixtures and etc. Essential Duty? Yes Job Duty Name 3 Description of Job Duty Responsible for plumbing repairs/replacement of sinks, closets, urinals, faucets, flush valves, and all other associated equipment/material. Repairs of copper, iron, and PVC piping. Essential Duty? Yes Job Duty Name 4 Description of Job Duty Responsible for repair of furniture and office equipment; including installation of whiteboards, screens, bulletin boards, display cabinets, crash rails, etc. Essential Duty? Yes Job Duty Name 6 Description of Job Duty Performs preventative maintenance/minor repairs to roofs, i.e. diagnosis roof leaks, maintains roof sumps and roof areas from debris. Essential Duty?
