Job Overview Northern Staffing Services is partnering with a well-established premium chocolate manufacturer in Petoskey, MI to find an experienced Manufacturing Maintenance Technician to join their 2nd shift team. What You'll Do As a Maintenance Technician, you'll help keep production running safely and efficiently by: Troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment Supporting automated manufacturing systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs Diagnosing equipment issues and responding to production downtime Maintaining and servicing motors, sensors, conveyors, and other production equipment Performing preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce unexpected downtime Reading and interpreting electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics Assisting with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects Documenting maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment modifications Providing technical support to production operators and fellow maintenance team members Helping with facility maintenance, production line tear-downs, reassembly, sanitation, and other maintenance projects Following company safety standards, food safety requirements, and MIOSHA regulations What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who can bring strong technical skills and a hands-on, problem-solving approach to the team.
Qualified candidates will have:
3-5 years of industrial maintenance or automation experience in a manufacturing environment Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated production equipment Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and industrial control systems Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar control platforms preferred Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities, along with knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems Ability to read and interpret technical schematics Familiarity with NFPA 70E, NEC, and MIOSHA safety requirements An Associate's degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent hands-on experience will be considered Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently while being a dependable member of a team What You Can Expect $23.00-$28.00/hour, based on experience Full-time, year-round employment 2nd shift Opportunity to work with modern manufacturing equipment and automation technology Stable opportunity with a respected and growing local manufacturer Team-oriented work environment A role where your skills have a direct impact on production and equipment reliability Opportunities to contribute ideas and improvements that make the operation better Work alongside a team that values safety, quality, and teamwork Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and move throughout the shift Ability to work around production equipment, varying temperatures, elevated areas, and confined spaces when necessary Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or occasional on-call shifts based on business needs Ready to Put Your Skills to Work?
