Job Description
Join our award-winning company in a fun and rewarding environment! At Anderson Custom Pools, we build and maintain the finest in-ground swimming pools and spas in the Metro Detroit area. We are looking for enthusiastic service professionals to join our team, so if you are self-motivated, dependable, and willing to work outdoors in beautiful residential settings, you may be just the candidate we are looking for! As a Pool Service Technician, you will manage the maintenance and service of swimming pools and spas on an assigned route.
Specific responsibilities and activities include:
Open and start-up pools in the spring Perform weekly pool maintenance, including: Brush pool walls, steps and seats to remove stains and loosen debris Clean pump and skimmer baskets and remove debris from cleaner bags Remove debris from pool with net and vacuum Test water quality and add chemicals necessary to balance water chemistry (e.g., chlorine, muriatic acid, soda ash, conditioner, algaecide, phosphate remover, sodium, etc.) Clean and/or replace cartridge filters as needed to maintain proper pool operation Adjust time clock, automated pool control and remote access programs as needed Test pool equipment (e.g., plumbing, pumps, filters, salt systems, cleaners, heaters, etc.) for proper operation and adjust settings for optimum performance Repair, replace, upgrade, and/or install new pool equipment as needed Maintain detailed record of chemical usage and service activities on customer service cards Communicate service and/or equipment issues and client requests to Service Manager Provide emergency and on-call service as needed Close and winterize pools at the end of the season Instruct clients on equipment operation and answer their pool, service, and equipment-related questions in a friendly and professional manner Maintain cleanliness of service vehicle(s), both inside and out, to ensure professional appearance at all times Manage service route(s) and daily jobs in a timely and cost-effective manner that minimizes unnecessary mileage, fuel usage and vehicle expense Manage service vehicle inventory of tools, parts, pool chemicals and equipment Conduct service activities with the highest respect and care for client's residence, surrounding landscape and neighborhood Qualified candidates will have familiarity with swimming pool equipment and water chemistry in addition to the following skills and abilities: Excellent listening skills and proven ability to follow directions Strong communication skills and a pleasant, friendly and helpful demeanor with clients Resourcefulness and ability to solve problems quickly and cost-effectively Technical aptitude and experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pumps, and/or HVAC equipment Ability to safely and effectively use and maintain power tools and equipment Ability to utilize current technology to manage service routes and communicate with co-workers and supervisors (e.g., smart phone, tablet, laptop, WiFi, navigation programs, etc.) Capacity to work overtime, evenings, and/or weekends during peak demand periods as needed Ability to work through fall closing season as needed Ability to work outdoors in a seasonal climate with varying weather conditions Ability to lift 50 pounds Desire to accept new responsibilities and advance within the organization Ability to work as a team and contribute to company performance objectives Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliable attendance record We pay a competitive hourly wage based on experience and performance. A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required. Background checks and drug screening are conducted prior to employment.
