Employment Type:
Full-Time About
MCMX MCMX
is a modern, fast-growing home services company based in Royal Oak. We handle maintenance and renovation for a portfolio of single-family and small multifamily homes, primarily through our close partnership with a property management company. That means steady work, clear scopes, and minimal back-and-forth. We run on software we built ourselves, so your work orders, scopes, photos, tasks, and time all live in one app on your phone. Your hours are captured as you work, so payday isn't a negotiation. If something isn't working, tell us and we'll fix it. Our techs are the backbone of what we do, and we treat them that way. We promote from within and give good people the opportunity to take on more responsibility as they earn it. What Level Are You? At MCMX, we have a straightforward progression: Tech 1 is learning the trade and building the fundamentals. Tech 2 can handle common residential work independently and is continuing to build a broader skill set. Tech 3 can be handed a project and trusted to run with it. We're hiring someone who is somewhere between Tech 1 and Tech 2 , with the ability and ambition to keep moving up. You don't need to know everything on day one. You do need to know the fundamentals, work safely, take direction well, and be capable of handling straightforward work without someone having to walk you through every step. The Role You'll work alongside our more experienced technicians on maintenance and renovation projects throughout Oakland and Macomb counties and surrounding areas. Your job is to handle straightforward work that keeps projects moving while learning from the techs leading the job. As your skills develop, you'll take on more responsibility and more complex work. Most of your work will be alongside a more experienced technician. You may occasionally be assigned to a simpler task or site on your own when the work is appropriate for your skill level. You'll work alongside experienced technicians and build your skills through progressively more complex work. This is a great fit for someone who has some hands-on residential experience and wants to become a well-rounded technician rather than staying in one narrow trade. What You'll Do Perform hands-on residential maintenance and renovation work Complete straightforward tasks such as painting, trim, trash-outs, basic repairs, material handling, and job-site preparation Assist lead technicians with larger maintenance and renovation projects Learn and perform increasingly complex work as your skills develop Keep job sites clean, organized, and professional Help source and transport materials when needed Document work, photos, materials, and time through MCMX's mobile software Follow project scopes and direction from the lead technician and Project Manager Communicate when you encounter something you don't know how to handle Occasionally complete simpler tasks independently when assigned What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who has some real hands-on experience and is ready to become a stronger, more well-rounded technician. Experience with some of the following is a plus: Residential maintenance and repair Painting Trim and finish work Carpentry Drywall Flooring Plumbing Electrical HVAC General renovation and remodeling You don't need to know every trade. We expect you to still be developing. A great candidate might have a year of experience and be sharp, motivated, and mechanically inclined. Another might have several years of experience but still be developing their skill set. We care more about what you can actually do than an arbitrary number of years. The most important things are that you're capable, dependable, willing to learn, and take pride in doing things correctly. Requirements Some hands-on residential maintenance, construction, renovation, or related experience Valid and active driver's license Reliable personal vehicle suitable for getting to job sites and transporting your tools A basic set of hand tools and a willingness to continue building your toolbox Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying conditions Must be able to pass a background check Reliable attendance and strong follow-through Comfortable using a smartphone and mobile applications for work documentation Schedule Full-time, Monday through Friday. No regular on-call rotation. Specific daily hours may vary based on the needs of the projects you're assigned to. What We Offer $18-22/hour , based on experience and demonstrated skill $180/quarter tool stipend $0.70/mile vehicle reimbursement PTO accrual starting immediately Paid major holidays starting immediately Full-time, steady work Hands-on training from experienced technicians Modern software and systems built around the work you actually do A company that values good technicians and gives them room to grow Where This Can Go We're not looking for someone to stay at this level forever. The goal is to build your skill set until you're capable of taking on more work independently, then more complex projects, and eventually running jobs as a Tech 3. As MCMX grows, there will also be opportunities to develop into different areas of the business. If you're good at what you do, reliable, and want to keep learning, there's room to move. If you're ready to become a better technician and want to work with people who will actually teach you, we'd like to hear from you.
