A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.
Saginaw, Bay City, Auburn & Midland Skyleigh Property Management is looking for a reliable, hardworking Maintenance Technician to help care for approximately 70 rental units throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. We are looking for someone who is comfortable handling the everyday maintenance and repair needs that come with residential rental properties. Every day can look a little different, so the ideal candidate is dependable, resourceful, communicates well, and is comfortable working independently. Responsibilities Typical maintenance calls may include: Repairing leaky faucets, sinks, toilets, and other minor plumbing issues Troubleshooting and completing basic electrical repairs Patching drywall and repairing minor wall damage Replacing fixtures, hardware, locks, and other household items Completing minor carpentry and general repairs Diagnosing routine maintenance concerns Performing basic preventative property maintenance Communicating professionally with tenants regarding scheduled repairs Taking before-and-after photos of completed work Documenting repairs and updating work orders Identifying repairs that may require a licensed contractor or additional assistance Helping keep our rental properties safe, functional, and well maintained How Work Orders Are Assigned Skyleigh Property Management uses AppFolio to manage maintenance requests and work orders. Through AppFolio, you will be able to: Receive assigned maintenance requests Review information about the repair needed Communicate directly with tenants to coordinate access Upload photos Add notes and updates Document completed work Because each property and maintenance call is different, applicants should be comfortable troubleshooting problems and determining the best way to complete routine repairs.
Requirements Applicants must:
Have experience with general property maintenance, home repairs, construction, handyman work, or a related field Be dependable and able to work independently Have good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Be comfortable communicating professionally with tenants Have a valid driver's license Have reliable personal transportation Maintain current vehicle insurance Be comfortable traveling throughout Saginaw, Bay City, Auburn, Midland, and surrounding areas Have a smartphone and be comfortable using a mobile app to receive assignments, communicate, and upload photos Having your own basic tools is preferred.
