Carbonxt is seeking a dependable and experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of our activated carbon pellet manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, equipment inspections, and general facility maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience maintaining industrial manufacturing or processing equipment. The position requires an individual who is comfortable working around production machinery, carbon dust, elevated temperatures, rotating equipment, and other conditions commonly found in an industrial manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment. Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical components including bearings, motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, sprockets, shafts, couplings, pumps, valves, and related equipment. Maintain and repair conveyors, material-handling systems, pelletizing equipment, mixers, feeders, screens, and other process equipment used in activated carbon production. Inspect and maintain dust-collection and ventilation systems to support safe and efficient plant operations. Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including cylinders, valves, regulators, hoses, and related components. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting on motors, switches, sensors, control circuits, and other industrial equipment within the employee's level of training and authorization. Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions to return equipment to service safely and efficiently. Respond to equipment breakdowns and production-related maintenance calls. Perform scheduled lubrication, equipment inspections, adjustments, and replacement of worn components. Assist with equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and plant improvement projects. Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, grinding, and basic metalworking when qualified to do so. Maintain facility systems and perform general building and grounds maintenance as needed. Identify developing equipment problems and communicate potential failures before they result in significant downtime. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspection records, and documentation of completed repairs. Maintain an organized inventory of commonly used maintenance parts, tools, and supplies. Communicate equipment status, outstanding repairs, and maintenance concerns to plant management and operations personnel. Coordinate maintenance activities with production employees to minimize disruption to plant operations. Maintain tools, maintenance areas, and workspaces in a clean and orderly condition. Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined-space requirements, fall protection, hot-work procedures, and required personal protective equipment. Immediately report unsafe equipment, conditions, or practices to management. Participate in safety meetings, training, inspections, and continuous-improvement initiatives. Perform other maintenance and plant-support duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or GED. Previous industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, millwright, mechanical, or similar hands-on experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Experience working with industrial motors, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and related mechanical equipment. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance machinery. Ability to read equipment manuals, diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation. Ability to independently identify mechanical problems and determine appropriate repair methods. Ability to work safely around operating production equipment and industrial processes. Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, supervisors, contractors, and management. Preferred Three or more years of industrial maintenance experience. Experience in activated carbon, chemical processing, pelletizing, bulk-material handling, mining, cement, wood products, feed mills, or another heavy manufacturing/process environment. Experience with conveyors, screw augers, bucket elevators, mixers, pellet mills or pelletizers, dust collectors, and bulk-material handling systems. Welding and fabrication experience. Experience troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Industrial electrical troubleshooting experience. Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial instrumentation. Formal industrial maintenance, millwright, electrical, welding, or mechanical training/certification. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in varying positions throughout a shift. Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier items with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment. Climb stairs and ladders and work on elevated platforms when required. Work around moving machinery and industrial equipment. Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Work in areas where activated carbon and other process dust may be present. Wear required personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety-toe footwear, protective clothing, and respiratory protection when required. Work in confined spaces or at elevated heights when properly trained, authorized, and equipped. Work Schedule This is a full-time position. The normal schedule will be established based on facility operating requirements. Because maintenance supports continuous manufacturing operations, the employee may occasionally be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or respond to after-hours maintenance needs depending on operational requirements. Safety Expectations Safety is an essential function of this position. The Industrial Maintenance Technician is expected to follow all company safety policies and procedures and must never bypass guards, safety devices, Lockout/Tagout requirements, or established maintenance procedures in order to expedite a repair. The employee is expected to stop work and immediately report any condition that presents an unreasonable risk to employees, equipment, or the facility.
