Job Description

Maintenance Mechanic Position Hours:
-7:30 am - 5:00 pm (overtime as required)Essential Functions:
- Perform all custodial job responsibilities.
- Assist with seasonal jobs: shovel snow; pick up litter, branches, rocks outside, window cleaning etc.
- Perform routine daily and weekly preventative maintenance such as inspecting, cleaning, adjusting and lubricating production equipment.
- Completes basic repair of production equipment. Removes, re-installs and diagnoses potential machine problems.
- Consult with other maintenance personnel for questions regarding maintenance or equipment.
- Read and follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the course of performing duties.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the duties performed in this position.
- Work at speed required to maintain proper production flow and on time delivery to internal customers.
- Respond quickly/correctly when quality problems are identified and/or involve others as needed.
- Close work orders with proper documentation.
- Write purchase requests.
- Communicate relevant information positively and effectively to others in timely manner.
- Read and follow safety procedures, including Lock Out/Tag Out protocol, PPE, safety guards and shields and other safety procedures.
Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and a mechanical aptitudeRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Ability to use various mechanical equipment and understand machine theory and operating systems/functions.
- Ability to identify needed repairs on equipment to make suitable for production use.
- Work with others as part of a team
- Accurately use measuring devices such as tape measures, voltage meters, calipers and other measuring devices
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Ability to troubleshoot.
- Ability to make decisions within a set of guidelines
- Ability to read and understand required internal paperwork
- Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines
- Effective and appropriate oral and written communication skills
- Ability to accurately enter and verify information in computer programs used in Maintenance.
- Knowledge of quality criteria with attention to detail and recognition of discrepancies.
- Awareness of OSHA and MPCA regulations.
