POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities & Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all physical infrastructure at our supplement production facility. This hands-on role encompasses preventive and corrective maintenance across multiple trades — including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general facility upkeep — while adhering to cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards required in a regulated production environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Maintenance & Facility Upkeep Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on facility systems, equipment, and structures. Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and emergency repair requests. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and equipment histories. Ensure all work areas, mechanical rooms, and storage spaces meet safety and cleanliness standards. Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors for specialized repairs or inspections. Plumbing Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including supply lines, drains, fixtures, and water heaters. Troubleshoot and resolve leaks, clogs, and pressure issues throughout the facility. Maintain compliance with local plumbing codes; support purified water and process water systems used in production. Perform backflow prevention testing and assist with water quality monitoring requirements. Electrical Perform basic to intermediate electrical work including panel maintenance, wiring, outlet/switch replacement, and lighting systems. Troubleshoot electrical faults, tripped breakers, and equipment wiring issues. Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC codes and facility safety standards. Coordinate with licensed electricians for high-voltage or permit-required work. Support installation and maintenance of production equipment electrical connections. Carpentry & Structural Construct, repair, and maintain interior structures including walls, doors, frames, shelving, and office fixtures. Install and repair flooring, ceiling tiles, drywall, and trim work throughout the facility. Fabricate and modify fixtures or support structures as needed for production or storage areas. Perform exterior maintenance including fencing, loading dock structures, and entryways. HVAC & Environmental Systems Perform basic HVAC maintenance including filter replacement, belt checks, and coil cleaning. Monitor temperature and humidity controls critical to supplement storage and production compliance. Coordinate preventive maintenance with HVAC contractors; assist with troubleshooting. Safety & Compliance Adhere to all cGMP guidelines, food safety protocols, and regulatory requirements applicable to dietary supplement manufacturing. Participate in facility safety programs, fire prevention, and emergency response planning. Maintain and inspect fire suppression systems, eyewash stations, and safety equipment. Report hazardous conditions immediately and take corrective action within scope of authority.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on building maintenance experience in a commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environment. Demonstrated proficiency in at least three trades: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and/or HVAC. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Preferred Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment (food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical). Trade certification or vocational training in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Experience with industrial production equipment installation and maintenance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This role operates in a combined office, warehouse, and active manufacturing environment. The technician will be exposed to varying temperatures, mechanical equipment, chemical cleaning agents, and production machinery. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and is required in designated areas. Some tasks may require working at heights, in confined spaces, or in noisy environments.
