Property Maintenance Officer City of Independence Missouri - 2.7 Independence, MO Job Details Full-time $26.78 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Environmental regulations Environmental compliance High school diploma or GED Driver's License Local ordinances Full Job Description Reviews, enforces, and monitors compliance to specific statutes, ordinances, rules, regulations and policies through on-site audits, reviews, and inspections. Investigates complaints, determines specific violations, and issues citations for code violations when warranted. Recommends and coordinates implementation of appropriate corrective action and resolution. Documents and prepares reports. Provides information to the public and organizations relative to various topics, explaining and interpreting statutes, rules and regulations and policies. Provides testimony in legal proceedings. Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED; additional college-level courses in science and/or conflict resolution preferred. One or more years of professional or technical experience in environmental public health or code enforcement. Knowledge of principals, practices and terminology of environmental health and code enforcement. Ability to read, interpret and apply legal provisions, departmental policies, and other written guidelines. Skilled in reacting effectively and calmly in difficult public contact situations. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire.Physical Demands:
Frequent mobility required including lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching; normal hearing and visual acuity. Maneuvering on uneven terrain. May require sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.Typical Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure to difficult public contacts and to all weather conditions. Possible exposure to potentially hazardous work areas and to personal physical danger in the course of conducting on-site review and investigation. May involve frequent exposure to dirty or unsanitary conditions.
