The purpose of this position is to perform preventive maintenance, and repair, and install tasks primarily focused on plumbing, electrical, small equipment and carpentry for all County buildings and properties. The work is performed under the supervision of the Supervisor-General Maintenance. Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to building systems, equipment, and controls. Documents completed work on preventative maintenance and work orders in ticket system. Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, repairs and installs of plumbing fixtures, fire suppression and piping, electrical equipment, kitchen and laundry equipment. Assist with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and installs for security systems, door controls, and gates. Monitors systems for proper operation and recommend major repairs or replacement. Performs metal fabrication tasks. Operates welders and cutting and soldering torches. Proactively identify, communicate and address building needs and report deficiencies without direction when appropriate. Perform carpentry work to include hanging, taping & mudding drywall. Lays out, assembles and erects materials. Completes all finish work including paint and trim as needed. Repairs and replaces doors, blinds, countertops, wallcovering, base molding, carpet and other flooring. Reconfigures and constructs systems furniture. Maintains inventory of furniture products. Receives and installs new furniture products as needed and advises of any damaged or missing product. Mentor, train and advise General Maintenance Technicians I regarding maintenance and repair. During assigned rotation schedule, responds to on-call service requests for general maintenance as needed, outside of normal business hours. Responds to emergencies for component and system failures. Participate in a weekly rotation assigned to the Corrections building to perform work order tickets. Works as part of the Snow-Duty on-call assignment. Removes snow from walkways and parking lots and spreads ice melt products as directed. May occur during normal business hours or on-call on an as needed basis. Performs other duties as assigned. This position cannot telecommute.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Requires high school diploma or equivalent from general or technical high school.
Certification:
Certification from a two-year trade school in electrical/electronic or a maintenance related field is preferred.
Experience:
4 to 5 years general building maintenance experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Individuals with building access to areas with confidential data such as
