JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years old, Minimum of one (1) - three (3) years' experience in repair and fabrication of equipment and machinery required. Strong knowledge of industrial mechanics, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems, conveyor lines Preference given to experience in welding, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems as well as metal fabrication and plumbing. DOE JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Foremen and Lead Millwright, the Industrial Handyman uses skills to repair and maintain plant equipment and facilities. The Industrial Handyman will also be involved in equipment and parts fabrication. Performing preventative maintenance on production machinery, motors, conveyor systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, diagnosing & trouble shooting problems. Works closely with Mill Operators, Foremen, Saw Filers, Electricians and other maintenance personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machines and equipment Performs minor and major equipment repair (including, but not limited to: changing motors, replacing bearings, repairing and replacing chains and sprockets, replacing chain raceways and plastic wear strips). Builds, repairs and maintains structures using a combination of metal and woodworking skills. Repairs machine parts/ assist with fabrication of new parts when necessary. Assists in building of concrete pads, foundations, etc. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, including electrical and hydraulic systems Makes necessary modifications to existing equipment-assists in designing new equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals to determine proper installation and repair methods Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks Maintains plumbing systems when necessary. Notifies and updates Maintenance Foreman when parts or supplies need to be ordered. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work area Ensure equipment is turned off at end of shift (welder, air compressor, etc.). Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as required Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operation of machinery Perform other duties as required
PHYSICAL WORK DEMANDS
The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical industrial plant environment. The individual is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise levels can be moderate to high. Frequently lift and move heavy machinery parts, tools, and materials up to 50 pounds. Exposure to outside temperatures, weather conditions, wood waste/dust, and ash exposure. The Industrial Handyman is often required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and the ability to work in tight spaces, confined areas, and awkward positions to access and repair machinery, requiring flexibility and a tolerance for uncomfortable work environments. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
SHIFT:
This is a swing shift position: Monday - Friday 4:30PM - 3:00AM 10 1/2hr. shift with a $0.45/cent additional differential added for swing shift.
