The organic waste we collect is turned into nutrient-rich compost that feeds both the landscapes we build and our farm, which grows local produce, via our sister companies Crown Town Compost and Crown Town Farm. The Problem This Role Solves As Crown Town's maintenance client base grows, consistent, high-quality field execution becomes the foundation of client retention and satisfaction. Without dependable Maintenance Technicians, routes fall behind, property quality suffers, and Maintenance Leads spend time correcting work instead of leading effectively. The Maintenance Technician role exists to: Execute recurring maintenance services to Crown Town standards Keep routes running on time and properties looking their best Support the Maintenance Lead so the entire team operates efficiently Deliver a predictable, professional experience for every client Role Purpose The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing the physical work required to maintain client properties to Crown Town's standards. This role focuses on quality, efficiency, teamwork, and safety — supporting the Maintenance Lead in completing each daily route while delivering a consistent, professional maintenance experience for clients. Core Responsibilities Daily Maintenance Service Execution Perform hands-on maintenance tasks including: Mowing turf areas Edging along hard surfaces and landscape beds Trimming around obstacles and structures Blowing hard surfaces clean Seasonal pruning of shrubs and small plant material Bed maintenance including weeding, debris removal, and touch-up care Light trash pickup and general property tidiness Maintain a steady workflow to ensure the route remains on schedule Support for Gardening & Specialty Tasks (As Assigned) Assist with light gardening tasks such as planting small plants, hand pruning, and bed enhancements Help maintain seasonal color, perennial beds, and specialty gardens when directed Support small-scale mulch touch-ups or soil refresh tasks Morning Preparation & Launch Help load tools, equipment, and supplies each morning Ensure PPE, fuel/batteries, and equipment are ready for the day Report broken or missing tools to the Maintenance Lead immediately Assist in keeping the truck and trailer organized and departure-ready Jobsite Cleanliness & Professionalism Maintain a clean and safe worksite throughout the day Ensure the final presentation of each property meets Crown Town standards Respect customer property (gates, furniture, irrigation heads, etc.) Uphold professionalism when visible to customers or neighbors Tool & Equipment Operation Operate hand tools and small power equipment safely, including: Mowers, string trimmers, edgers, blowers, and hedge trimmers (when trained) Clean equipment, reload trimmer line, swap or sharpen blades under Lead direction Charge or replace batteries for electric equipment Safety & Compliance Follow all Crown Town safety protocols Wear required PPE at all times Use tools and equipment only as trained Maintain situational awareness around roads, customers, pets, and coworkers Report unsafe conditions or incidents to the Maintenance Lead immediately Communication & Teamwork Maintain positive communication with the Maintenance Lead and other technicians Notify Lead of property issues, access problems, or service challenges Support team members who fall behind to maintain route efficiency Demonstrate a respectful, coachable, team-oriented attitude What This Role Is Not Responsible For Leadership & Management Directing the crew, assigning tasks, coaching or correcting other team members, or making scheduling or route decisions Owned by Maintenance Lead & Maintenance PM. Customer Communication Discussing scope, complaints, pricing, expectations, or communicating schedule changes or service adjustments Redirect all client interactions to Maintenance Lead or CSM. Administrative Work Recording daily route updates, entering notes into systems, or handling service documentation beyond basic communication with Lead Procurement & Ordering Ordering materials, tools, or equipment, or managing inventory or POs Budgeting or Job Costing Tracking labor hours relative to budget or monitoring profitability or productivity metrics Design or Service Decisions Altering service scope, modifying plant material, or changing design elements What Success Looks Like Services are completed on time, correctly, and consistently Property appearance meets or exceeds Crown Town standards each visit Minimal call-backs or rework caused by quality issues Equipment is handled safely and maintained properly Communication with Maintenance Lead is timely and reliable Team members trust and enjoy working with the Tech Professionalism is upheld at all customer properties Technician shows improvement in skill, speed, and plant knowledge over time Skills Proven working experience as a lawn maintenance or landscape worker Detailed knowledge of lawn care and landscape plant care Ability to operate large lawn equipment Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally Valid driver's license preferred Good driving record with no traffic violations preferred
