SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-10

, you will assign work orders to specific crewmembers and select workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities; assure th there is enough work to keep the work crew busy; troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, comb, tactical and automotive vehicles; troubleshoot equipment and diagnose the cause of mechanical failures; remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems; independently perform repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locions; conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associed equipment supported by the activity; assist in the maintenance of production reports and records, and make recommendions to the supervisor; perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements:

Experience or training th has provided the candide with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupional series. Experience or training which demonstres the candides ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupional series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

: (Must have 24 months) In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstres the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly reled the repair function of this occupional series. Must have the ability to perform administrive functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publicions used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work reled directly to this occupional series.
