Programs and services include a soup kitchen, food salvage program, day and night shelters, on-site medical clinic, rehousing-focused case management, and supportive housing for homeless Veterans and chronically homeless individuals with disabilities. The organization has 40 part- and full-time staff and more than 500 volunteers. Good Shepherd has worked diligently and intentionally to move beyond serving merely as a safety net for hungry and homeless guests, devoting equal time and resources to transitioning our guests back to housing and stability in the community. This commitment is reflected in our mission: To feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and foster transition to housing. Position Summary The Maintenance Technician performs technical, mechanical, and custodial work to ensure that buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas are maintained in accordance with Good Shepherd Center's standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall functionality. This role performs a wide array of light maintenance, repair, and general upkeep tasks across shelter, housing, and program facilities. This position is embedded within an organization providing emergency services to vulnerable individuals and requires regular interaction with clients, volunteers, and staff. As such, the Maintenance Technician must demonstrate a strong commitment to the agency's mission and uphold the highest standards of compassion, respect, professionalism, and personal conduct. Individuals with the required skills and experience but who lack the interest or ability to use them within a sensitive client setting need not apply. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Facilities Manager. Essential Responsibilities Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Complete assigned work orders and perform preventative maintenance on facilities and grounds as directed by management. Make repairs in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable code requirements. Use tools and equipment correctly and safely for assigned tasks. Complete unit and room "turnover" processes by performing all tasks listed on move-out inspection forms to prepare vacant apartments for new move-ins. Assist in maintaining grounds, common areas, and amenities by picking up trash and debris, pressure washing breezeways, performing general cleaning, and painting as directed. Follow established procedures for obtaining materials, supplies, tools, and equipment, including tracking inventory used and returning unused items to designated locations. Complete required documentation and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner so that service requests and maintenance activities are properly documented and tracked. Comply with Good Shepherd Center's safety and risk management policies by attending safety meetings, completing required OSHA and safety-related training, and promptly reporting accidents and incidents. May be required, on an occasional basis, to assist with cleanup of areas impacted by biohazardous materials, in accordance with agency policies, OSHA requirements, and only after receiving appropriate training and with proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Interact respectfully and professionally with clients experiencing homelessness, volunteers, coworkers, and members of the public at all times. Display strong work ethic and high degree of honesty and dependability. Be on call for after-hours emergencies, typically on a rotating schedule with others on the Facilities team. Perform other duties as assigned. Education, Skills, & Preferred Qualifications Preferred experience as a Maintenance or Facilities Technician in a similar role. Familiarity with basic handyperson and light repair practices, including plumbing repair, drywall repair, small engine repair, tiling, painting, and general maintenance tasks. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances. Knowledge of safe handling and disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous materials. Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing job duties. Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team, and to take direction as needed. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. High school diploma preferred but not required.

$46,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
