Duties Operate heavy machinery including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, front loader trucks, and other construction equipment to perform roadway repairs, paving, grading, and utility work. Conduct roadway construction projects such as asphalt paving, shoulder repairs, and crack sealing to enhance transportation safety and efficiency. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools, including power tools and hand tools, ensuring optimal operation and safety compliance. Assist with utility locating and excavation activities for water, sewer, storm drain systems, and other infrastructure projects. Implement traffic control measures in work zones following FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations to ensure worker and public safety. Support highway maintenance activities such as mowing, debris removal, signage installation, and roadside cleanup. Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations; adhere to OSHA standards and local regulations for construction site safety. Collaborate with team members on road construction projects while demonstrating mechanical knowledge and manual handling skills for heavy lifting tasks. Requirements Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, or similar machinery in a construction or civil infrastructure setting. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations related to commercial truck driving and safety standards for highway maintenance work. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely on outdoor construction sites under varying weather conditions. Familiarity with roadway construction techniques including paving, grading, utility installation, and traffic control for work zones. Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and performing basic maintenance on machinery. Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and construction site management. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory depending on role requirements. Prior experience working on civil infrastructure projects involving roadwork or utility installation is highly desirable.
