NATURE OF WORK
Duties consist of general maintenance tasks including the following essential duties and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform a variety of general carpentry tasks including, framing, finish, cabinetry, furniture repair. Basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical, drywall, and painting work. Moving heavy furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment. Providing appropriate work documentation including hang tags or other documentation. Reporting items in need of repair. Maintaining a safe secure work environment and locking up buildings. Working on-call after hours to handle emergency maintenance tasks. Performing other related duties as assigned.
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds. Work while standing and walking throughout an eight-hour work shift. Work around human wastes (e.g., stool, urine, blood, and vomit). Work in the outdoors under adverse weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, and precipitation). Work in compliance with safety-related rules and regulations. Some knowledge of institutional maintenance. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to operate or learn to operate basic tools and equipment used in the maintenance trades. Complete the required paperwork and reports. Be able to lift, push, and pull a variety of tools and equipment. Be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision. Must be able to work without adverse reaction to dusts, pollen, and other common materials encountered during the performance of duties. Ability to work within and uphold the philosophy of the institution, observe institutional regulations and cooperate fully in the operation of the institution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The General Maintenance employee should have at least three (3) years of experience in a general maintenance position preferably working in an institutional environment. Graduation from a trade or vocational school or through an approved apprenticeship program may satisfy this experience requirement. A positive attitude and strong work ethic are also very important. A current driver's license is required
