Job Description

Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician provides technical support, troubleshooting, and repair for facility equipment in a highly automated food manufacturing environment. This role maintains assigned production equipment, assists with installations and modifications, and supports continuous improvement efforts while ensuring a safe and efficient operation. The technician also shares knowledge by training peers as needed and works primarily on an overnight shift. Responsibilities Monitor production areas to ensure proper functioning of assigned equipment and respond promptly to perform repairs as needed. Diagnose, adjust, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment using a full range of hand and power tools. Review work orders for accuracy and completeness, and maintain clear documentation of all work performed. Assist with the installation of new equipment and the modification of existing equipment to support production needs. Provide training and guidance to peers when requested by maintenance leadership or the training department. Identify root causes of downtime related to mechanical or technical defects and recommend corrective actions. Participate in maintenance meetings and required training sessions to stay current on procedures and best practices. Identify opportunities for improvement and provide feedback to supervisors on cost reduction, quality improvement, and yield control. Follow all company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other powered equipment or machinery as needed to perform maintenance tasks. Work collaboratively with a team of technicians and also perform tasks autonomously with limited supervision. Support preventive maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. Essential Skills Minimum of 6 months industrial maintenance experience. Experience and comfort using a wide variety of hand and power tools. Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure and interpret industrial blueprints. Basic knowledge and safety understanding of electrical components. Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages. Skill in using a personal computer and software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to work in a refrigerated environment ranging from 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit. Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner with plant employees, vendors, and contractors. Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, or other powered equipment or machinery as needed. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and willingness to work overnight shifts. Ability to pass a required physical, including demonstrating the ability to lift the required weight for the position. Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire 8-hour shift. Consistent use of job-specific personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated by company policy. Ability to consistently practice and enforce safe working habits and recognize safety risks while complying with all safety standards. Desire and ability to work overnight shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate's degree or higher in Mechatronics, Electrical, Welding, or a similar field preferred. Previous experience working with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) preferred. Welding experience preferred. Experience in a food manufacturing or processing environment is beneficial. Ability to drive or commute to a facility located in the Fremont area. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a brand-new, highly automated chicken processing facility operating in a food manufacturing setting. The plant processes a high volume of product in a 24-hour cycle and uses advanced equipment and systems that require regular maintenance and troubleshooting. The work environment is refrigerated, typically ranging from 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit, and requires wearing job-specific personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. The position follows an overnight schedule of 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation, which includes working some weekends and holidays. Technicians use a variety of hand and power tools, industrial machinery, forklifts, and scissor lifts while performing their duties and work both independently and as part of a collaborative maintenance team in a fast-paced production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Fremont, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $70000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
