CLEANING WORKER I-II
Full-Time, 1st Shift Position #40380 $14.40/hour - $20.80/hour See total compensation information at the bottom of announcement. The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, and New Hampshire Hospital has a Full-Time vacancy for a Building Cleaning Worker I-II.
Summary:
BCW I:
To perform independent cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of New Hampshire Hospital; may include assignment to multiple units, areas, or locations.
BCW II:
To serve as a team or crew lead, and/or shift point person and to independently provide a full range of cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of New Hampshire Hospital; may include assignment to multiple units, areas or locations.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

37-2010BGA01 (Level 1 to Level 2) For promotion from the 37-2010 Building Cleaning Workers-1 job title to the 37-2010 Building Cleaning Workers-2 job title, the eligibility requirements in Personnel Rule 303.08 Broad Group Level Advancement must be satisfied, as well as the following criteria: 1. Has one (1) year of experience functioning as a Building Cleaning Worker-1 2. Receives a satisfactory performance evaluation and is free of discipline, pursuant to Personnel Rule 1003.01, for one year immediately prior to promotion 3. Is up to date on all mandatory in-house training 4. Receives a performance-based recommendation for promotion from the supervisor

DETAILED TASKS
(AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC): Performs light to heavy physical custodial activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and whole-body movement, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or handling equipment and materials to perform cleaning duties, such as dusting, vacuuming, stripping/buffing/waxing floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls, and glass, and disinfecting. Performs routine building and facilities maintenance duties such as changing lightbulbs, adjusting or replacing fixtures, and resetting machinery or environmental systems. Removes snow, debris, or garbage from grounds/walkways; salts and sands when needed. Mows, cuts hedges and trims grass. Moves beds, furniture, equipment, partitions, materials, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks. Performs condition checks of cleaning tools/equipment and replaces or repairs as needed; observes operation of building or facility's mechanical, safety, or environmental systems and notifies supervisor or team lead of any issues or concerns. Applies appropriate solvents, chemicals, and disinfectants; removes contaminated and non-contaminated waste from buildings/facilities; disposes of waste in a prescribed manner; adheres to health and safety requirements relevant to the work area or facility. Stocks supplies and advises the team lead or supervisor when inventory is low or if supplies are needed.

(AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC): Leads and mentors' individuals or crews and ensures that cleaning, shift details, and projects are completed on schedule in the area(s) of responsibility; inspects and reviews the work of team members to ensure quality and that health and safety standards are being followed. Recommends personnel actions or changes to standard operational procedures to supervisor. Interacts with building or facility employees, residents, patients, or contractors. Investigates complaints about cleanliness, service, or equipment issues and takes corrective actions on-site. Responds to immediate safety and/or maintenance concerns; refers escalated issues for resolution to supervisor. Completes daily activity reports, logs, or notes as necessary. Inventories stock to ensure supplies and equipment are available in adequate amounts and orders or advises the supervisor of what is needed. Removes snow, debris, or garbage from grounds/walkways; salts and sands when needed. Mows, cuts hedges and trims grass.
