Technician - Maintenance Mechanic Anthony and Son's Italian Bakery is a growing food manufacturing company based in Denville, NJ. BASIC FUNCTION
The Maintenance Mechanic -Technician will work 2nd shift (2pm-10:30pm) is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing production, packaging, and facility equipment to support safe and efficient operations. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, building systems, and utilities while ensuring minimal downtime and compliance with safety and food manufacturing standards. This position has no direct reports and reports to the Plant Engineer, Maintenance Manager. Perform preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance on production and packaging equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems to minimize equipment downtime. Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and replace machinery components including gearboxes, conveyors, motors, pumps, bearings, belts, and drives. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on mixers, pumps, piping, ovens, packaging equipment, and production support systems. Conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Fabricate, cut, weld, and assemble metal parts as needed to repair or improve equipment. Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, motors, sensors, controls, and electronic components on industrial machinery. Conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, equipment records, and preventive maintenance documentation. Monitor inventory levels of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies, and notify management when replenishment is needed. Identify equipment reliability and safety concerns and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, installations, and facility improvement projects. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production emergencies. Follow all company safety policies, GMPs, OSHA regulations, and food safety requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities:
Must have basic English oral, written and communication skills. Electrical, mechanical and plumbing installation and repair skills. Working knowledge of power tools and machine shop equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to make required repairs. Basic Math skills required. Boiler and chiller repair skills and prior experience in preventive maintenance systems is a plus. Organized and efficient in time management skills. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently on assigned projects. Ability to professionally interact with outside maintenance contractors when required. Capable of following all required SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) and safety programs. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing experience is preferred. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems. Experience with welding, fabrication, and machine repair. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings. Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred. Basic computer skills for documenting maintenance activities. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Physical Requirements Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Ability to work at heights and in varying temperature environments, including refrigerated and hot production areas. Must be available to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed.

Physical Demands:
While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk (for several hours of the workday) and use hands to handle objects, tools and controls, reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee may be required to move or lift objects exceeding (50 lbs.) Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
Education/ Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Relevant experience in general machine and building maintenance. A combination of vocational training, education and experience that is equivalent to the employment standards listed above and provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
