Job Description
Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production, packaging, and facility equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, supporting food safety compliance, and driving reliability improvements throughout the facility. Successful candidates will be comfortable diagnosing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues while working closely with production and engineering teams to improve overall equipment performance Duties Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot and repair production, packaging, and processing equipment
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation-related failures
- Troubleshoot motors, motor controls, sensors, relays, VFDs, photo eyes, and control circuits
- Perform repairs on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, chains, sprockets, and drive systems
- Support automated production and packaging equipment
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications
- Respond quickly and effectively to production downtime events Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute preventive maintenance activities on production and facility equipment
- Support development and continuous improvement of PM and PdM programs
- Identify recurring equipment failures and participate in root cause analysis
- Recommend reliability improvements that increase equipment uptime and reduce maintenance costs
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders within the CMMS system Continuous Improvement & Reliability
- Participate in equipment improvement projects and process optimization initiatives
- Support development of maintenance standards and best practices
- Help drive a proactive maintenance culture focused on reliability rather than reactive repairs
- Work with operators to improve equipment care and basic autonomous maintenance activities Safety & Food Quality
- Follow all food safety, GMP, SQF, and OSHA requirements
- Comply with Lockout/Tagout procedures and all plant safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Ensure equipment repairs support product quality and food safety requirements Qualifications
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems
- Knowledge of motors, motor controls, sensors, VFDs, and industrial control circuits
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment Preferred Competencies
- Food manufacturing experience
- Packaging equipment experience
- CMMS experience
- Predictive maintenance experience
- Technical degree or trade school certification Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the shift
- Ability to work around moving machinery and production equipment
- Ability to safely perform maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment
