Job Description
We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and hardworking Maintenance Assistant / Maintenance Technician to join our team, someone with real hands-on maintenance knowledge who is comfortable troubleshooting problems, working with tools, completing repairs, and getting the job done properly. What You'll Be Doing You will work directly with the Maintenance Director and assist with the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the building, including: Repairing toilets, sinks, faucets, valves, drains, and other plumbing fixtures Replacing switches, outlets, fixtures, ballasts, and other basic electrical components Basic carpentry, drywall, painting, hardware, and general building repairs Preventive maintenance Assist in scheduling inspections/getting reports etc Monthly inspections Responding to maintenance work orders Troubleshooting problems before immediately calling an outside contractor Assisting with emergency repairs when necessary Keeping work areas, mechanical spaces, and maintenance areas clean and organized We want someone who: Knows how to work with their hands Has actual experience with building maintenance or the trades Has working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems Has at least basic knowledge of HVAC systems Can troubleshoot a problem instead of simply reporting that something is broken Is dependable and shows up ready to work Takes pride in completing work correctly Can work independently when given an assignment Works well as part of a maintenance team Is willing to learn Can communicate professionally with supervisors and other staff Can stay productive without needing constant supervision Requirements Previous hands-on maintenance, construction, mechanical, or trade experience Working knowledge of plumbing Working knowledge of basic electrical Basic HVAC knowledge Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools Ability to perform the physical duties associated with building maintenance Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Weekend availability Must be able to successfully complete all background checks and other pre-employment requirements applicable to the position Healthcare or nursing home experience is NOT required. We're looking for a worker, not a spectator. The right candidate is someone who sees a problem and wants to figure out how to fix it. You should be comfortable getting your hands dirty, working through a busy maintenance list, handling unexpected problems, and helping wherever you're needed. If you have solid plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance skills, are dependable, and are looking for a steady full-time position where hard work is appreciated, we encourage you to apply.
