Job Description
Position Summary The Hotel Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical property, guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems to ensure a safe, clean, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for guests and employees. This position responds promptly to maintenance requests and performs preventive maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, mechanical equipment, and building systems. Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests and work orders. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, appliances, doors, locks, and other hotel equipment. Maintain guest rooms and common areas in accordance with hotel standards. Complete preventative maintenance tasks and document completed work. Monitor and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and water systems. Perform basic carpentry, painting, drywall, and general building repairs. Assist with pool, laundry, kitchen, and other hotel equipment maintenance as needed. Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and inventory of supplies. Maintain a clean and organized maintenance/work area. Follow all hotel safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and applicable building codes. Respond appropriately to emergencies, including water leaks, power issues, fire/life-safety concerns, and other urgent maintenance situations. Communicate maintenance issues that require outside contractors or specialized services to management. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, and work orders. Provide courteous and professional service to guests and coworkers at all times. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or General Manager. Qualifications Previous maintenance, facilities, hotel engineering, or skilled-trades experience preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot problems and perform repairs safely and efficiently. Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good communication and customer-service skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when required. Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and perform physical maintenance tasks. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Physical Requirements The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, lifting, and carrying equipment and supplies. The employee must be able to safely perform routine maintenance duties throughout the hotel. Guest Service Expectations The Maintenance Technician represents the hotel whenever interacting with guests. Employees are expected to maintain a professional appearance, respond courteously to guest concerns, protect guest privacy, and provide prompt and helpful service.
