Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic facilities team as a Facilities Maintenance Technician, where your expertise will keep our buildings and equipment running smoothly and efficiently! This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building maintenance skills in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for ensuring all facilities systems operate safely and reliably, contributing to a safe, comfortable, and productive workspace for everyone. Your proactive approach and technical knowledge will help us maintain high standards of facility performance while supporting a positive environment for staff and visitors alike. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, and building interior components to ensure optimal operation. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues using hand tools, schematics, and technical manuals; conduct welding and carpentry tasks as needed. Maintain and repair electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, switches, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ensuring compliance with safety standards. Conduct plumbing system maintenance and repairs, including leak detection, pipe repairs, and fixture replacements. Operate electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters to diagnose faults; utilize maintenance painting techniques to improve facility aesthetics. Supervise or assist with building interior maintenance projects; oversee or participate in residential painting tasks when required. Use schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot complex issues; maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) procedures. Lead or support team members in facilities equipment maintenance; promote safety protocols and best practices across all tasks. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management; provide excellent customer service by addressing concerns efficiently. Qualifications Proven experience in facilities maintenance or related fields with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC system repair, or building interior maintenance. Hands-on skills with hand tools, electrical equipment repair, welding, carpentry, and plumbing system maintenance. Knowledge of schematics, technical manuals, PLCs, HVAC systems (including troubleshooting and repair), and electrical work standards. Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately; experience with Ohmmeters or similar testing devices is essential. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with experience in maintenance painting and residential painting projects. Supervising or leadership experience is preferred; ability to guide team members effectively while fostering a collaborative environment. Excellent communication skills in English; capable of documenting work clearly and providing customer-focused service. Physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting heavy objects, working at heights or confined spaces as needed.
