Work Schedule:
5 days a week; 8-10-hour shifts. Day and Night shifts as required. Overtime and weekends as required.
Compensation :
$27.17/ hour

Full-time only American Gypsum Company LLC has been manufacturing, selling, and distributing gypsum wallboard products for over half a century, servicing the drywall industry with quality products that are sold throughout the United States.
JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Mechanic is to troubleshoot issues effectively and provide adequate solutions. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for: Safely and efficiently fulfilling the assigned tasks given by the Maintenance supervisor. Assist fellow Mechanics when needed. Effectively and efficiently complete work orders. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment. Performing general housekeeping of your assigned area daily. Reporting any issues to the Maintenance supervisor promptly. Safety and quality should always be part of the daily operation: to ensure a safe workplace, to ensure the quality and integrity of all equipment, and to ensure the quality of all repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
A High School Diploma or GED. A mechanical background or equivalent in his/her prior work history or successful completion of a trade school. Basic knowledge of the mechanical tool set is required. No specific knowledge of the plant, terminology, or equipment is required. Have a general knowledge of screws and conveyor equipment. Have a general knowledge of power transmission equipment. Have a general knowledge of fasteners. Forklift experience is a plus. Be physically capable of climbing stairs, handling varied temperatures, and prolonged standing/crouching/etc. Willingness to work within a group and alone. Willingness to work overtime, as required. Willingness to learn and grow into an excellent mechanic.
PRIMARY DUTIES
MAINTENANCE:
Mechanical installation, upkeep, repair, and removal of plant equipment. Diagnose and determine the cause of problems with equipment and find solutions. including mechanical and electrical failures. Operate forklift. Work with different types of equipment including but not limited to belt conveyors, roller conveyors, screw conveyors, grinding mills, gypsum board mixers, gypsum board knives, pollution control dust collector units, pneumatic lifts, and hydraulic lifts.
SAFETY:
This position is a safety-sensitive position due to routine close proximity to moving and automatic equipment as well as mobile equipment. Operate in a safe manner, following all plant and departmental safety rules and procedures. Wear appropriate PPE for the job conditions.
OPERATIONS
Ability and desire to learn and practice good housekeeping principles. Ability and desire to work in a safe manner in all conditions and circumstances. Ability and desire to learn and practice all Plant Safety and Compliance Programs. Follow all production and maintenance shop area safe operating procedures. Properly store tools and equipment. Know how to safely start, stop, and test all equipment in the area. Understand and follow all safe operating procedures for mobile equipment.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Must be flexible with job duties. You may be required to fill in on other jobs or in other departments when the business or organization is short-handed. Must have a phone and understand that he/she will be subject to shared callout responsibilities, in which every effort will be made to distribute equitably. Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
Manufacturing site. Typically, well-lighted. The plant is not heated or air-conditioned. Moderate noise levels require hearing protection. The air quality is good.
