Facility Maintenance Technician Job Description The Facility Maintenance Technician performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment and machinery in a manufacturing plant. This role ensures equipment operates efficiently to support production goals and helps maintain a safe working environment by following established maintenance schedules and safety protocols. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance on industrial equipment and machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on production equipment and resolve problems in a timely manner. Repair and replace faulty components, parts, and systems on machinery and facility equipment. Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments to inspect, test, and service equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics to diagnose issues and complete repairs correctly. Conduct preventive maintenance activities, including inspection, calibration, lubrication, and adjustment of equipment. Work safely with 480-volt electrical systems and 3-phase power while following lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Use precision measuring instruments and diagnostic tools such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and alignment tools to verify equipment performance. Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status and issues to appropriate personnel. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems. Working knowledge of electrical systems, including 480-volt and 3-phase power. Experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair. Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers. Proficiency using power tools such as drills, grinders, and saws. Ability to use diagnostic instruments including multimeters, pressure gauges, and alignment tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and electrical and mechanical schematics. Experience performing preventive maintenance, including calibration and lubrication of equipment. Knowledge and practical use of lockout/tagout (LOTO) safety procedures. Ability to work safely from heights and lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing plant or similar industrial environment. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments for equipment inspection and alignment. Comfort working around noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on minimizing equipment downtime. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate maintenance records. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing plant environment with active machinery, operational noise, and varying temperatures. The position is hands-on and physically active, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from heights as needed. The schedule includes training on day shift depending on experience level, followed by a swing shift typically from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with possible variations starting at 2:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. You will regularly work around industrial equipment and use a range of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments while adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bernalillo, NM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
