Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled Overhead Door Technician to join our dedicated team. This professional will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining overhead doors and related systems across various commercial and residential settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, construction experience, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing a broad range of technical skills to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with building codes. Duties Install, repair, and maintain overhead doors, including door hanging, door installation, and frame carpentry. Perform glass installation and fixture installation as part of door systems or related structures. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to accurately execute projects. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques for construction and repair tasks. Conduct electrical work related to door operators, sensors, and safety devices while ensuring adherence to electrical codes. Engage in heavy lifting and physical tasks such as metal stud framing, caulking, trim carpentry, and cabinet installation. Ensure all work complies with building code requirements and safety standards. Fabricate custom components or modify existing parts to meet project specifications. Read and interpret schematics for mechanical repair or electrical troubleshooting. Provide excellent customer service by communicating project status clearly and addressing client concerns professionally. Experience Proven construction site experience with familiarity in remodeling, metal stud framing, and carpentry. Hands-on experience with door installation—including overhead doors—and related hardware. Mechanical knowledge encompassing fixture installation, locksmithing, welding, and schematic reading. Prior experience with electrical work involving door operators or security systems is preferred. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication tools effectively. Knowledge of building code compliance standards relevant to door systems and construction projects. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and schematics accurately. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely in a construction environment. Strong customer service skills with the capacity to communicate technical information clearly. Experience working on construction sites or in remodeling projects is highly desirable.
