SALARY:
$48,000 - $52,000 (depending on experience) with yearly increases NYS Retirement System Pension and excellent health benefits (including dental and vision) Sick time which begins immediately with vacation time earned after six months

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualification(s) must be met and clearly stated on the application form: Two years of experience in general building construction or maintenance activities involving application of carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades techniques AND Eligibility for an appropriate level New York State driver's license at time of application; possession of license at time of appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm with weekly rotation of 'on call' availability required.
DUTIES:
The work involves responsibility for the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment. The work performed is of a general mechanical nature and may include carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, heating or electrical maintenance and repair, welding, sheet metal work, locksmithing or related trades. Although employees of this class, because of individual training or experience, generally devote a greater part of their time to a particular specialized field, they are required to work in various mechanical fields as the occasion demands. The work is performed under general supervision with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinate employees. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
(Illustrative only) Installs and repairs electrical wiring and equipment. Cleans, maintains and makes repairs to boilers, pumps, heaters, piping, valves, compressor motors and generators. Builds, repairs and/or installs cabinets, shelves, doors, paneling, flooring, windows and locks. Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, etc. using industry standard techniques. Inspects property, including public buildings, to estimate needs and requirements for repair and preventive maintenance. Repairs and installs oil, gas and electric heating systems. Performs masonry duties such as mixing plaster and concrete to perform repairs or new installations. Prepares and paints interior and exteriors of buildings and structures. Sweeps and mops floors, stairs and halls, washes window and sinks and performs related cleaning duties. Performs general clean up work such as removing debris, raking leaves, cutting grass and weeds, clearing snow, and assisting in collection of rubbish and litter. May operate a truck or other automotive equipment.
