Rochester, NY Position Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving injection molding equipment, auxiliary equipment, tooling support systems, and facility infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. This position supports production by minimizing downtime, performing preventive maintenance, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Diagnose machine failures and implement corrective actions to minimize production downtime. Maintain robots, conveyors, chillers, dryers, loaders, grinders, temperature controllers, and compressed air systems. Perform machine alignments, adjustments, and calibrations as required. Tooling and Process Support Assist with mold installations, removals, and startup activities. Perform basic mold maintenance and support mold repair activities. Collaborate with Process Technicians and Production Supervisors to resolve equipment-related production issues. Monitor machine performance and recommend reliability improvements. Facility Maintenance Maintain building systems including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, electrical distribution, and facility infrastructure. Support grounds maintenance and snow removal activities when necessary. Coordinate with contractors and vendors performing specialized maintenance services. Safety and Compliance Follow all OSHA, company safety, and environmental requirements. Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards. Participate in safety inspections and continuous improvement activities. Documentation Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately and timely. Document equipment repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and parts usage. Assist in maintaining spare parts inventories. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Technical degree, trade school certification, or vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred. Experience 1-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required. Experience with plastic injection molding equipment preferred. Experience troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Knowledge & Skills Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings a plus. Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting. Familiarity with Engel, Arburg, Toshiba, Sumitomo, or similar molding equipment preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment. Basic computer skills and CMMS experience preferred. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, and reach. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and moderate to high noise levels. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as required.
Pay:
$24.00 - $34.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
