Job Description

Maintenance Technician Maintenance Technicians install, repair, calibrate, and maintain the rotating and stationary equipment, piping, and related components that are used to produce final products. Orion Engineered Carbons produces carbon black which is an essential ingredient in tires and a variety of other rubber products. Shift work is required.
Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, repair and/or replace items such as pumps, bearings, seals, gearboxes, heat exchangers, boilers, filters, dryers, mixers, conveyors, fans, packaging and product handling equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on mechanical equipment; disassemble, clean, inspect, refurbish and reassemble mechanical equipment.
  • Weld, cut and fabricate custom metal assemblies; repair equipment and piping using the appropriate type of welding.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and other fluid drive systems, including variable speed fluid drives.
  • Update drawings, schematics and blueprints as needed; maintain appropriate records and documentation.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; journeyman certification as a millwright or in a related craft is strongly preferred; proficiency in rigging, pipefitting, or welding are strong pluses.
  • At least three to five years of experience in chemical plant or refinery maintenance is preferred; experience as a chemical operator may be substituted for some of this requirement.
  • Experience with vibration analysis data collection, laser alignment, thermography, ultrasonic testing techniques, and pneumatics is very helpful. Certification in any of these subjects is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in arc, MIG and TIG welding is a significant advantage.
  • Basic computer literacy and the ability to use Microsoft Office products are required.
  • Willingness to work in environments for prolonged periods that are hot, dusty, noisy that require the use of PPE is required; the ability to bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and lift up to 50lbs occasionally is also necessary.
