Our Maintenance Technician plays an important role in keeping our facility safe, functional, comfortable, and welcoming for the residents who call JAG Columbus home and the employees who care for them. Much like maintaining your own home, each day can bring new projects, repairs, and unexpected challenges. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, notices what needs to be done, and isn't afraid to tackle a project when it arises. JAG Healthcare Columbus is a 99-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility specializing in care for individuals with cognitive deficits and behavioral health needs . Because our residents live here around the clock, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment is an essential part of the care we provide. Who This Position Is Great For This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, dependable, resourceful, and comfortable working independently while also being part of a larger facility team. We're looking for someone who doesn't need to be told about every little thing that needs attention. You should be comfortable troubleshooting problems, prioritizing projects, completing routine preventative maintenance, and responding appropriately when unexpected maintenance needs arise. Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the facility Complete routine preventative maintenance and facility inspections Patch and repair walls as needed Paint resident rooms, common areas, offices, and other facility spaces Perform minor plumbing repairs and troubleshooting Repair or replace flooring and ceiling tiles as needed Replace light bulbs and fixtures, including those requiring the safe use of a ladder Assist with floor maintenance, including stripping and waxing floors as needed Troubleshoot minor equipment and facility maintenance concerns Assist residents with moving into, out of, or between rooms within the facility Help residents and employees hang pictures, move furniture, and rearrange rooms or offices when needed Respond to resident and employee maintenance requests and appropriately document completed work Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records Conduct and document required weekly and monthly safety inspections Conduct and document facility emergency and safety drills, including fire, tornado, elopement, active threat, and other required preparedness drills Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate action to correct or report them Help maintain the facility grounds and exterior areas as needed Maintain tools, maintenance equipment, supplies, and work areas in a safe and organized manner Work collaboratively with facility leadership and other departments to address maintenance needs Follow applicable state and federal regulations, safety requirements, and facility policies Assist with preparations for inspections and regulatory surveys Respond to emergency maintenance needs when necessary Participate in on-call coverage for emergency maintenance needs on weekends and holidays Complete additional maintenance projects and responsibilities as facility needs arise Skills & Qualifications Previous maintenance experience strongly preferred Experience with general building maintenance, repairs, or a related trade preferred Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, flooring, and general repair work HVAC certification is a plus Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Comfortable safely using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and projects Ability to work independently and take initiative Dependable and able to respond appropriately to urgent maintenance needs Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe environment Ability to accurately complete maintenance logs, inspection records, and other required documentation Good communication and teamwork skills Professional and respectful when interacting with residents, families, employees, vendors, and visitors Flexibility to meet the maintenance needs of a 24-hour healthcare facility Ability to participate in weekend and holiday on-call coverage as required Why Join JAG Healthcare Columbus?
