Basic Job Functions:
The role of a Nucor Marion Mechanic is to work with the maintenance and operations teams to achieve the safest, most efficient and most cost effective means of operation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading all types of production equipment, using their knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmissions, water systems, welding, machining, and pipe fitting, completing process improvement projects, and providing mechanical support to operations. The qualified candidate must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends as required. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical principles
  • Experience with working on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
  • Welding experience: MIG, TIG, ARC, and stainless-steel welding techniques
  • 3+ years' experience in industrial or military mechanical maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-year or 4-year degree in mechanical or related field.
  • Experience maintaining overhead cranes.
  • Advanced training/certifications in Mechanical maintenance
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Preventative and Predictive Maintenance
  • Prior Steel industry experience in mechanical maintenance
  • Experience operating forklifts and/or other mobile equipment Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.
