In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing various types of dies used in manufacturing processes, including plastic injection molding and stamping presses. Your expertise will ensure the continuous operation of tooling equipment, minimize downtime, and uphold the highest standards of quality and precision. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, proficiency with CAD software, and experience with CNC machining and toolroom operations to support efficient production workflows. Duties Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on dies, molds, and tooling equipment to ensure optimal performance. Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks to interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for die fabrication and modifications. Program CNC machines including CNC lathes, milling machines, and CAM programming tools to manufacture or repair die components with precision. Operate manual machining tools such as grinders, calipers, micrometers, and measurement instruments to achieve tight tolerances. Conduct welding repairs on dies and tooling using appropriate welding techniques to restore integrity and functionality. Interpret schematics, electrical discharge machining (EDM) plans, and shop math to troubleshoot issues effectively. Set up machining tools for die fabrication or repair tasks while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards. Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, schematics updates, and repair histories for traceability. Collaborate with production teams to ensure timely delivery of repaired or modified dies that meet specifications. Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process enhancements related to die maintenance and manufacturing efficiency. Requirements Proven experience in die maintenance or toolroom operations within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks; experience with CAM programming is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of CNC programming and operation of CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment. Familiarity with plastics injection molding processes and stamping press operations. Mechanical blueprint interpretation skills coupled with shop math proficiency for precise measurements. Hands-on experience with manual machining tools including calipers, micrometers, grinders, and hand tools. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for quality control. Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical components related to die systems. Metal machining expertise with a focus on precision measurement instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Experience working with maintenance, repair & operations (MRO), tooling setups, and manufacturing processes. Strong problem-solving skills combined with excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently. High school diploma or technical certification; additional training in CNC machining or tool & die work is preferred.
