Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Building Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems and equipment. Your expertise will help maintain a comfortable, functional environment for occupants while supporting the overall integrity of the facility. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of technical skills, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC system repair, combined with a strong commitment to quality maintenance and customer service. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems such as electrical equipment, HVAC units, plumbing systems, and mechanical components. Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and tools such as ohmmeters. Conduct HVAC system repairs, including filter replacements, refrigerant recharge, and system diagnostics to ensure optimal performance. Carry out plumbing maintenance and repairs, including leak detection, pipe repairs, and fixture replacements. Utilize hand tools and power tools for carpentry tasks such as maintenance painting, interior repairs, or installing fixtures. Maintain facilities equipment by performing scheduled inspections and addressing any operational deficiencies promptly. Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately. Support building interior maintenance activities to uphold safety standards and aesthetic quality. Assist with maintenance painting projects to improve the appearance of interior spaces. Lead or collaborate with team members on complex repair tasks involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or electrical systems. Ensure compliance with safety protocols during all maintenance activities. Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from building occupants. Experience Proven experience in facilities maintenance or building repair roles with a focus on electrical work, HVAC systems, plumbing, carpentry, or mechanical systems. Hands-on experience with electrical equipment repair and troubleshooting using tools like ohmmeters. Knowledge of HVAC system repair techniques including troubleshooting thermostats, compressors, fans, and ductwork. Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to building systems. Experience working with maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) procedures in a commercial or residential setting. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by skills in welding or other fabrication techniques is desirable. Ability to operate hand tools efficiently while adhering to safety standards. Excellent communication skills in English for effective collaboration with team members and clients. Leadership qualities that enable guiding junior technicians or coordinating complex repair projects.
